NWDA Issues Statement about fatal Sept. 11 motor vehicle collision in Sunderland

The Northwestern District Attorney's Office issued the following statement by First Assistant District Attorney Steven E. Gagne today:

“Based upon the investigation thus far, the Massachusetts State Police has issued a citation to Matthew Kostanski, of Greenfield, for negligent motor vehicle homicide in connection with the September 11, 2011 death of Emily Weston.

"Witness statements and physical evidence from the roadway show that Mr. Kostanski’s southbound vehicle crossed over into the northbound lane of travel, where it collided with Ms. Weston’s vehicle. 

"The investigation into the full circumstances and causes of the collision continues, but at this point there is no indication that drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash.  Mr. Kostanski will be summonsed into Greenfield District Court for arraignment at a future date yet to be determined.”
