Easthampton man killed in one-vehicle crash in Williamsburg

Easthampton man victim in fatal car crash

WILLIAMSBURG – Police are continuing to investigate a fatal crash on Mountain Street in Williamsburg near the Whately town line that resulted in the death of a 33-year-old Easthampton man.

 Authorities have identified the man as Allen R. Tautznik Jr., who was discovered around 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 28 by a bicyclist passing by the scene of the crash down a steep embankment on Mountain Street near the Mountain Street Reservoir.

The vehicle could not be seen by passing motorists, and it is unknown exactly when the crash occurred.

 The cause of the crash continues to be investigated by State Police attached to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, investigators with the State Police Crime Scene Services Section and the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Williamsburg Police.  The Office of the Chief Medical Officer will determine the cause of death.

 Also at the scene yesterday were Northampton Police, Northampton Water Department staff and Williamsburg firefighters and paramedics who assisted with lighting equipment and extrication of the vehicle from the embankment and the deceased victim.
