Change of plea said expected in 2017 fatal Belchertown crash case

A change of plea is expected in the case of Ryan Fellion, charged with motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation and related charges in connection with the Feb. 17, 2017 crash on Route 9 in Belchertown that claimed the life of Amherst resident Larry Kelley.

Fellion, 19, of Belchertown, is due to return to Eastern Hampshire District Court on Thursday, April 26 at 9 a.m., at which time,  his attorney said in court today, he expects a change of plea.

In a decision issued this week, Judge Michael Mulcahy ruled that Fellion must give his cell phone passcode to Massachusetts State Police investigators so that they can complete a search warrant on his cell phone. That investigation continues.

Mulcahy denied a defense motion to suppress the seizure and search of the phone.
